Fotona IncontinLase

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common condition in women that causes the involuntary loss of urine during coughing, sneezing, laughing or physical exertion such as running or jumping.

The cause for this involuntary loss of urine is the weakening of the urethral closure mechanism, which is a result from stretching of the pelvic floor region.  The main contributing causes to this are vaginal child birth, obesity and general aging.

Until now, SUI was treated through muscular training exercises (Kegels), which are only marginally effective, or with a surgically placed urethral sling.

Dr. Brenna & Three Graces Medi Spa now offers another option!  Introducing IncontiLase, a non-surgical laser treatment for SUI.  Er:YAG laser energy causes photo thermal heating on the collagen in both the vaginal walls and the urethra which causes restructuring and regrowth of the collagen.  This results in thickening and tightening of the vaginal walls and urethra to improve atrophy and prevent urine loss. The treatment works best for mild and moderate stress urinary incontinence.  Mixed incontinence patients get relief in stress symptoms.  In follow up studies, 94% of women report significant improvement and 68% were completely free of SUI!

The procedure is done in the office and takes approximately 30 minutes.  It is highly effective, pain free and safe.

You can leave immediately after the procedure and continue your daily routine.  There may be some sensitivity after the procedure and a clear discharge for 2-3 days afterwards.  Sexual intercourse is not recommended for 1 week post procedure.

Vaginal relaxation syndrome (VRS) is defined as laxity of the vaginal wall.  It can result in loss of friction and sexual satisfaction for both you and your partner.

The most common cause of VRS is overstretching of the vaginal wall during childbirth.  Other causes are congenital connective tissue weakness and natural aging.

Until now, effective results for VRS could only be achieved through invasive surgical treatments such as anterior and posterior vaginal plastic surgery.  There are many post-operative complications associated with these procedures.

Dr Brenna & Three Graces Medi Spa now offers a nonsurgical option for VRS. IntimaLase is a non-surgical Er:YAG laser which causes photo thermal heating on the collagen in the vaginal walls which causes restructuring and regrowth of the collagen.  This results in rejuvenation of cells, thickening and tightening of the vaginal walls. In follow up studies, 95% of women and their partners indicated they experienced a more than moderate level of vaginal tightening and improved sexual performance.  Any woman with increased vaginal laxity due to childbirth and / or aging is a good candidate.

Vaginal atrophy normally occurs post menopause due to lack of estrogen. This often leads to uncomfortable dryness and pain with sexual intercourse. The treatment options for atrophy typically involve hormone therapy.

Dr Brenna & Three Graces Medi Spa now offer RenovaLase to restore normal vaginal mucosa structure and function to eliminate the need for long-term estrogen treatment.

The RenovaLase treatment is based on laser-induced controlled mild heating of the vaginal tissue, which stimulates angiogenesis, fibroblast activity and new collagen formation, without thermal or ablative damage.

The final result is healthier muscosa with increased epithelial thickness as well as vascularization of the lamina propria, along with a reduction of symptoms such as dryness, itching, irritation and dyspareunia.

Women suffering from vaginal atrophy symptoms such as vaginal dryness, irritation and dyspareunia (pain with sexual intercourse) are good candidates. RenovaLase is also appropriate for patients with estrogen-dependent cancer (such as endometrial cancer, breast cancer, etc.) or with a family background of such cancer who suffer from vaginal atrophy.
